War” is dedicated to veteran volunteers of the “Azov” Battalion who fought in the Russian-Ukrainian war from 2015 to 2017 and returned to fight during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Synopsis
The history of this project began in 2015 when the director first came to Mariupol to the base of the Azov Volunteer Regiment.
For four years, the director came and recorded various stages of the company’s life. The base in Mariupol resembled a camp from childhood, but for adults, where instead of toys – weapons. A separate world, a microcosm, was formed there. This is the world of young boys who grew up with the war.
With each arrival, different fighters who fought in the battalion were caught on camera. Young, cheerful with their stories and curious situations. We go on dates with them in Mariupol, order pizza at the base, and listen to stories about girls. Our characters will lose friends in the war and each of them will experience it in their way.
